Pademukmir is an ongoing performance series initiated in 2018 by visual artist Hilal Bozkurt and sound artist Doruk Keskin. The performances have taken place in different settings, including nightclubs, streets, galleries and domestic spaces.

The project approaches painting not as a finished object, but as a live process shaped by sound, gesture, material and space. A microphone attached to the brush captures the sound of painting, which is processed through a computer and amplified back into the space. Sound influences movement, movement produces new sound, and the performance develops through this continuous feedback loop.

The name Pademukmir is an invented word combining fragments of the Turkish words pamuk (cotton) and demir (iron), referring to the familiar riddle of which is heavier. Its tension between simplicity and complexity reflects the logic of the work. Because each performance is shaped by the acoustics, surfaces, interruptions and accidental events of its setting, it can be repeated as a structure, but never reproduced in exactly the same way.
